As a Christian law enforcement officer, have you ever been angry, upset or felt disrespected because of a decision/comment by a co-worker or supervisor?  Or have you ever felt belittled because a citizen or suspect embarrassed you to the point where you wanted nothing but revenge?  Check out what the bible says about this, click here:

  • Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord. Romans 12:17-19(NIV)
  • Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing. 1 Peter 3:9(NIV)
  • And don’t say, “Now I can pay them back for what they’ve done to me! I’ll get even with them!” Proverbs 24:29(NLT)
  • “Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against a fellow Israelite, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD. Leviticus 19:18(NLT)
  • See that no one pays back evil for evil, but always try to do good to each other and to all people. 1 Thessalonians 5:15(NLT)
  • But when you are praying, first forgive anyone you are holding a grudge against, so that your Father in heaven will forgive your sins, too.” Mark 11:25(NLT)
  • He did not retaliate when he was insulted, nor threaten revenge when he suffered. He left his case in the hands of God, who always judges fairly. 1 Peter 2:23(NLT)
  • Like a muddied spring or a polluted well is a righteous man who gives way to the wicked. Proverbs 25:26(NIV)
  • Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6(NIV)
  • My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, for man’s anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires. James 1:19(NIV)
  • Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Matthew 5:7(NIV)
  • A wise man fears the LORD and shuns evil, but a fool is hotheaded and reckless. A quick-tempered man does foolish things, and a crafty man is hated. Proverbs 14:16-17(NIV)
  • Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every authority instituted among men: whether to the king, as the supreme authority, or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right. For it is God’s will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish men. Live as free men, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as servants of God. 1 Peter 2:13-16(NIV)
  • No harm comes to the godly, but the wicked have their fill of trouble Proverbs 12:21(NLT)
  • “In your anger do not sin” : Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold. Ephesians 4:26-27(NIV)
  • A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. Proverbs 15:1(NIV)
  • If your enemies are hungry, give them food to eat. If they are thirsty, give them water to drink. You will heap burning coals of shame on their heads, and the LORD will reward you. Proverbs 25:21-22(NLT)
  • Stop being angry! Turn from your rage! Do not lose your temper— it only leads to harm. Psalms 37:8(NLT)
  • You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. Colossians 3:7-8(NIV)
