Our Gracious Lord, two more of Your peacemakers have been shot in the line of duty in which one has died. Lord, as Your word tells us that You alone are our Rock and our Fortress and an ever-present help in times of trouble, we earnestly come before your Throne of Grace to lift up the Phillips County Sheriff’s Department as they are mourning the loss of one of their own co-workers, Deputy Brandon Gaede, murdered in the line of duty. Lord, may your sustaining grace, peace and mercy touch the hearts and souls of every member of the Phillips County Sheriff’s Department as they cope with this sudden and tragic loss of one of their dear friends. May your love and grace especially be with the family of Deputy Gaede and sustain them through this very difficult time of loss. As the news reports indicate the suspect died, may You grant the investigators wisdom and insight as they gather all of the facts surrounding this murder of one of Your peacemakers. We also lift a wounded a critically wounded Philadelphia School Safety Officer into Your Presence who was shot in the face. As he is being treated at a hospital, may You continue to pour out Your grace and wisdom upon the doctors. May You grant the doctors wisdom to identify any injuries and apply the correct treatment and bring about a full recovery. As the suspect escaped, may You grant the investigators wisdom to locate and arrest this suspect. And if the suspect tries to harm any other officers may you cause his weapon to malfunction. May You raise up witnesses and citizens to aid in finding the suspect. May Your love, Presence, comfort and mercies especially descend upon the family of these peacemakers and uphold them through this difficult time. And as Your love, grace, peace, mercy, comfort and Your presence carry the men and women of the Phillips County Sheriff’s Dept. and the Philadelphia School Safety Department though these horrific attacks, may they know it is You who will be carrying them through this difficult time. O’ Lord, as the members of the Phillips County Sheriff’s Dept. will now have to prepare a final farewell to Deputy Gaede, may the power of your Holy Spirit settle upon each peace officer and grant them strength in their hearts. May the love and Jesus be made real to each of them. May every officer, family member and friend intimately know that no matter what, you said You will never leave nor forsake those who love you and have received you into their hearts. May they also know Your word says that You do not want anyone to perish but to come to faith and repentance in Your Son. May many be drawn to the Cross of Christ where there is mercy and grace. May your comfort settle upon every member of the Phillips County Sheriff’s Dept. and the Philadelphia School Safety Department who were involved in those difficult incidents. O’ Lord, hold them so very close to your heart. May Your grace and mercy especially preserve the hearts and spirits of the law enforcement officers and who were present at both of these incidents when their co-worker was shot/injured and prevent them from enduring sleepless nights or any long-term emotional trauma. May You raise up chaplains and other Christian law enforcement officers in both agencies to bring comfort to those in need. May Your word dwell richly in the heart of those in need as follows: “Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth. The LORD Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.”; this we ask in the precious name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
